What it is built on

KYW stands on the shoulders of open projects, and it is a pleasure to say so plainly.

• FSRS – the Free Spaced Repetition Scheduler, an open memory model developed by the community. It is what decides the day a word comes back to you; KYW runs its sixth version through the official py-fsrs library.
• SuperMemo and Anki – the ideas of spaced repetition the whole field grew out of, FSRS included.
• FastAPI, Uvicorn and PostgreSQL – what the server side rests on.
• Archivo, Golos Text and JetBrains Mono – the fonts of the site, all under the open SIL OFL licence.
• The community of language learners – for packs of words, bug reports and ideas.
